Adam and Jenn (White) Emery’s story is so cliché: she once saved his sister via Heimlich when they were both working on a seventh grade French project, and later they re-met at a post-Buckeye game Out-R-Inn excursion.
Okay, that’s actually quite unique.
Which is why it stands to reason that the about-to-wed couple threw down such a special Big Day this spring at Strongwater, built on a specifically simple mantra: “casual, unique, with plenty of dancing.”
It doesn’t get much more casual and unique than a dressed-down Allure gown, bridesmaids in dresses they hand-picked for themselves, a J. Crew suit for the groom—all under the even-more-understated backdrop of the courtyard of a former drinking fountain factory. It’s the exact type of wedding where you’d fully expect to see the couple’s dog gleefully join them for the outdoor procession and a reception banner that declares the day’s union as “Shit Just Got Real.”
Even as casual as Adam and Jenn kept the day, they still made room for the upscale and utopian, staging their day at the impeccably artful Short North boutique hotel, Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph and skipping over to historic Goodale Park for photos.
And on the dance floor, it most definitely got real. With The Conspiracy Band on the soundtrack and PBR as the fuel, the newlywed Emeries and their guests untucked their shirts and their inhibitions, filling the dancefloor with one-handed pushups, Dirty Dancing re-enactments, and other wedding party standards. Well done, kids.
