Packed since opening its Clintonville doors, The Crest has raised the bar on the whole gastro-pubby trend. Its menu is a dance party of oldies but goodies, mixed with the indie risk-taking spirit. Take the elk burger. Elk, dense and deep red, is given a global profile through a slather of harissa mayo and a side of zaatar fries. Harissa is ketchup viewed through the lens of North African flavors, including a variety of peppers and garlic, while zaatar is a common Middle Eastern herb mix. The elk burger is also gussied up with a kale and cabbage slaw that adds crunch to this international wonder.
