India Festival

Come to the 11th annual India Festival held at the Veteran's Memorial on Saturday, September 19th, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This one-day event highlights the rich local Indian presence in Ohio, as well as traditions that reach further than human memory. Every year continental Indians observe over 50 different festivals with a broad range of themes, so it makes sense that the festival in Columbus will offer more than standard festival fare.
In addition to amazing food, mesmerizing dance, and a cultural powerhouse of seductive and celebratory music, this year's festival will feature a talent hunt competition for all the underappreciated and undiscovered future celebrities in the Columbus area.
Blind yourself with the bright colors draped on the already-discovered beauties at the fashion show throughout the day. You might want to hit up the fashion after you check out the Indian film series, however, because this will be one of the only places you can view authentic Indian film on the big screen here in the Midwest.
Make sure to come early, because although the Veteran's Memorial has ample free parking, attendance has increased 400 percent in the last five years. So, if you want to buy that sari for your lady friend at the expansive shopping bazaar, your best bet is to beat the droves of curious competitors.
Take a more modern look at the cultural fusion of Indian cricket. The 3rd annual Cricket tournament will be held on Saturday, September 5th at Busch Park, 4990 Olentangy River Road.
The cost of attendance is $6, and the festival is free for children under 5.
