A Personal Approach to Training

In February, after seven years of working in the corporate retail environment, Jen Borman joined countless other victims of downsizing.

"When something like that happens," Borman says matter-of-factly, "you do some serious soul searching." She seized her newfound freedom from a career she was becoming increasingly complacent towards and dove headfirst into her passion: women's fitness.

By July, Personal Training by Jen had already gained a following of devoted and diverse central Ohio women. The success stories are already rolling in.

"One client was unable to wear her wedding rings for eight years," Borman says. "She showed up at our session one day with a smile and tears in her eyes. She was wearing her rings." Sharing the journey of her clients' physical - and emotional - transformation drives Borman's passion. This is a woman who truly wants women to feel confident, healthy and happy.

Borman creates a highly personalized training program for her clients. A first session is all about the client: her goals, her lifestyle, her body. Borman understands the importance of a realistic approach to fitness. She creates a program designed specifically to reach each client's goals and work with her life. Whether she is working with a fitness buff who wants to reach a new level, a novice looking to lower her cholesterol, or a bride with visions of toned arms for her big day, Borman's individualized system will make sure her client gets there.

In keeping with her personalized theme, Borman offers her clients a variety of training options. She maintains a gym in her Canal Winchester home (which is also conveniently located near trails at Slate Run Park), allowing for maximum privacy and comfort. Alternatively, Borman will meet a client at her gym of choice. An added benefit - Jen is affordable. Hour-long sessions cost just $45, or $38 when sessions are purchased as a package. Plus, each workout ends with Borman's specialty: a banana protein shake.

Fitness isn't about vanity; it's about being healthy and feeling good. Borman says it best, "I'm not just training you. I'm teaching you."

  2. This sounds great! I live in the Canal Winchester area, and there aren’t many options for working out - except for expensive gym memberships! The trails at Slate Run and an in-home gym sound like a great option!

  5. This is (kind of) my personal goal in life - my 15 year plan. It’s inspirational to know that it’s been done, and with class.
