She's Got the Beat
Hometown hit-maker DJ Moxy is poised for big things to come

There was a time when the synth lines and drum-kit beats of electronic music made people cringe with traumatic flashbacks of A Night at the Roxbury. While that movie was doing damage to people's perceptions of what house music was and could be, a musical sub-culture of DJs went underground to feverishly perfect the art of transcribing the rave that was happening in their minds onto the dance floor.

Meet DJ Moxy Martinez, the punky, petite Columbus DJ and producer who has risen like a fiery groove-making phoenix from under deaf ears and into every stylish club in town.
A musician in one capacity or another since the 1980s, Moxy is well versed in all genres of music, and that shines through in her diverse pairing of sounds, beats, and melodies. Moxy is unapologetic about her desire to rise to the top, and her infectious DJ-ing has placed her at the forefront of the Columbus 'It-list' of sought-after DJs.
"The road I've taken to get where I am has been beautiful, difficult, phenomenal, and humbling," said Moxy.
Whereas most normal people would respond to a sensation with words, Moxy operates on an entirely different level by bottling up all her insecurities, triumphs, and failures, letting them fester and grow until they explode from her fingers in organic ambient sound or an experimental trippy pulse-driven bass thump.
DJ Moxy has dropped beats on fans all around the Midwest, and her talents have taken her all the way to France to spin Pump Up the Music to 3,000 ravers in a giant airport hangar . . . so she's kind of a big deal. However, also a generous spirit, she provides her music for free to anyone who would care to listen and feel the beat.
"In the end," concluded Moxy, "my passion is to create music that makes people feel."
