As a Valentine's baby and a seasoned professional matchmaker, I have a few suggestions on how to help your love story have a happy ending, too.

1. Dating can and should be fun.
Remember to not be too serious on your first date. Date with the intention of meeting someone new and outside your everyday circle, rather than expecting to meet your life partner. You'll have more fun and take some of the pressure off yourself.
2. Improve your outlook and your luck will change.
If you have a negative outlook, you're probably sabotaging your chances at romance. Put all those negative relationships behind you and focus on the future.
3. Take a pro-active approach.
Get off the couch and get out there! Remember, luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Dating is a numbers game. The more potential people you meet, the more likely you are to find "the one."
4. Dating deal-breakers that will undoubtedly trip you up:
-Talking about your ex - Never do this!
-Getting drunk - Holding your hair for you isn't romantic, it's pathetic.
-Sharing information that's too personal - Keep your lint fixation to yourself.
-Inability to put the cell phone down - It's rude, and makes you look out of touch and self-important.
5. Be yourself.
Check the ego at the door and leave the power plays in the boardroom. Be honest, open, and follow through with your commitments. Authenticity leaves a lasting impression - although your date might not end up being your type, you never know who they might introduce you to in the future.
So now that you're armed with some great insider tips, don't be afraid to get out there and be as successful in your personal life as you are in your professional life. Your love story may not end up on the big screen, but from this matchmaker's experience, it's always better in real life. Happy Valentine's Day, Columbus!
