The Columbus Comedy Festival, presented by the Wild Goose Creative, is a new idea for the city: from February 25th-28th, comics and comedy-lovers will unite in a bonanza of performances, workshops, and artistic networking.

"We called it the Columbus Comedy Festival because we wanted to highlight the many improv groups and stand-up comics and sketch comedy groups and even comic musicians working in Columbus," said Wild Goose producer, Nick Dekker. "One of our overall missions for the organization is to bring artists and audiences together. Let this be a neutral ground for artists to try out work and for audiences to see it."

It must be the Ohio weather; it seems we could use a little cheer in February.

Three other choices present themselves for Columbus comedy fans this month:

It looks like the Rednecks are riding into town... Jeff Foxworthy and his redneck crew will bring their arsenal of fart gags, Skoal bits, and all-around down-home humor to Nationwide Arena February 5th. Foxworthy takes headliner status, but just barely, from Larry the Cable Guy, who is turning into a countrified Dane Cook in terms of popularity. Bill Engvall, of "Here's Your Sign" fame, will take the stage as well.

Known as the nation's funniest "clean" comic, Brian Regan has long been the favorite of comedy nerds for his bizarre takes on pretty normal scenarios. Regan, who talks in his act about attending Heidelberg College, returns to Ohio February 26th at the Palace Theatre.

Here in Columbus, one of the comedy scene's most successful events is back for another year, and as always - for a good cause. The 7th Annual Comics for a Cure will be held February 27th at 7 p.m., at the Strand Theatre (28 E Winter St., Delaware). All proceeds benefit The American Cancer Society. Tickets are $20; contact event founder Jeff Robinson at (740) 815-0642 or wjrob@yahoo.com. Dan Swartwout of Powell headlines.
