Books on Business

There are a host of good books out there to help you get started. Some of the best-selling titles include Entrepreneur Magazine's Startup series and The E-Myth by Michael Gerber.

For the star-struck among you, there are plenty of celebrity business primers to choose from, including Donald Trump's Entrepreneurship 101, Donny Deutsch's Big Idea, and George Foreman's Knockout Entrepreneur (a particularly good choice for those wanting to sell hamburgers at boxing events).

For the ladies, you can find a rather condescending little pink day-timer called Sixteen Weeks to Your Dream Business. It looks more like a fad-diet guide than a business book, and includes inspiring quotes from famous women at the top of every pretty little blank page.

Underachievers are not left out of the mix either. Titles like Business Plans for Dummies, Making a Living Without a Job, and The Weekend Small Business Start-Up Kit are no-brainers for the easy reader set.

The Big Kahuna of the business library is a monster-sized "MBA Resource" called Business, with over 100 interviews and biographies from the world's most influential business pioneers. But if you find that one a little frightening, you could always settle for the comforting prose of, yes, you guessed it: Chicken Soup for the Entrepreneur's Soul.

In addition to the business book of your choice, Trust Agents by Chris Brogan and Julian Smith is a New York Times Bestseller that every business owner should read. This book explains how to leverage the Web and use social media to grow your brand. It explains how we are evolving from a consumer culture to a community culture, and how to avoid the old school advertising pitfalls people are fast rejecting.
