Casino Guide

By Abigail Hartung, David S. Lewis

Published October 1, 2012

Dazzled is okay; frazzled is not.

Your guide to a painless introduction to the new Hollywood Casino Columbus

You’re going to go. Even if you didn’t want it, even if you go to church twice a day three-times-on-Sunday, curiosity is going to get the better of you and you are going to go. And when you walk into the new Hollywood Casino opening up on Columbus’ West Side October 8th, you will likely be immediately overwhelmed: flashing lights will dazzle you, clanging bells, sirens, the ghosts of dead ’50s movie stars will leap out at you from behind potted plants (are these real? Fancy …)

This guide isn’t an exhaustive list of all gaming the casino will have to offer. Rather, we took a closer look at some of the most popular games, and tried to explain the rules as simply as possible, along with a little strategy (courtesy of industry leader in casino games odds calculation, Michael Shackleford, A.S.A., and his amazing website, www.wizardofodds.com) that will at least help you not look like the total novice you probably are.

And, if you are interested in learning what else the Hollywood Casino Columbus has to offer, from private party rooms to local entertainment to the other games offered (and how to play them!), visit www.hollywoodcasinocolumbus.com for more information.

Also, if you have a gambling problem, don’t go.
You’re not invited, don’t mess with it, it’ll ruin your life. Gambling can be a dangerous psychological addiction, and if you have or think you may have a problem, you can add your name to a voluntary self-exclusion list that will prevent you from entering any of Ohio’s new casinos; for more information on self-exclusion, please visit www.casinocontrol.ohio.gov.
