If anyone has any objections, let him speak now or forever hold his … BRAINS!!
Andrew and Tabitha Burcham were married more than a year ago, but as special as the ceremony was, they felt the photographic memories were lacking from their Big Day.
So, they hatched one of the grandest one-year anniversary plans of all-time: to get re-hitched during a citywide zombie apocalypse.
“My wife and her brothers have always had a running thing about zombies and we discovered the Zombie Walk and thought, ‘Why not?’” Andrew said. “We didn’t know anyone who had done it and we thought it would be a great laugh.”
It turned out to be an equally fun time for the fake zombies themselves, who, with their elaborately bloodied expressions, chased the couple down High Street and into Goodale Park.
“I guess we kind of stood out,” he laughed. “Whenever we stopped, the zombies would pose with us. It was so cool how everyone participated.”
They were even fake married by a fake zombie priest, who just happened to be taking part in the walk.
All who encountered the anniversary/wedding took the gag in good humor, including the real wedding party that patiently waited while the Burchams finished their photo shoot in the Goodale Gazebo – brandishing replica swords and pistols.
Despite the fact that their real lives may skew a little more professional than the undead – Andrew is finishing up law school and Tabitha her Master’s – the wedding redux was a perfect reflection of their personality as a couple.
“We both love just hanging out and doing stupid, fun stuff like that," Andrew said. “It exemplifies our relationship. It’s just us.”
