Sweet Sixteen

Everyone remembers their Sweet Sixteen birthday party—the one where your body is really starting to bloom and everyone wants to put their mouth on everything. Well, the hormones are really starting to rage down at Skully’s Music-Diner, and they want you to get in on the action!

As one of Columbus’s premier music venues, they’ve hosted hundreds of artists on their way to the top, including Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, and The Black Keys. Now they’re pulling out all the stops for their big 1-6, and it all goes down just a few blocks south of campus.

Kicking off with infamous Norwegian black metal demons Mayhem on Nov 6, you can find a little something for everyone over the course of the two-week celebration.

If EDM is your thing, then you won’t want to miss Jai Wolf and Bleep Bloop performing on one of the best sound systems in town, earning the venue ‘Best Dance Club in Columbus’ numerous times. You’re more into cathartic indie jams? No worries, Mewithoutyou and Knuckle Puck have you covered.

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, JD McPherson, and Lucero (with local heroes Two Cow Garage opening) will provide plenty of beer-swigging rock & roll.

Of course they’ll keep a couple of their staple events going throughout, including a surpise return of Ladies ’80s and the popular Damn Girl! dance party. Weekly Sunday night rasta champions Flex Crew will turn in two performances on Nov 12 & 19. Their regular gigs are always a good time, but you’ll have to show up to see what kind of surprises they have in store.

You only turn 16 once, so head to Skully’s and help make their party an unforgettable one!
