Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. The generations that came before us help envelope us into traditions and usher us into the next chapter of our lives. Who is this whole to-do really for, if not for the respected older characters in our lives, whom we want to emulate? Early in the ceremony, we have the walk down the aisle, a metaphor for the changing roles of our parents. And, after a few tears and a few glasses of wine, the coats will come off and the sleeves will get rolled up. Then it’s time to let it all hang out on the dance floor.
